We serve those who are most “at risk” in our community with positive solutions concerning unexpected pregnancies and with resources that will encourage these new young families to succeed. We are here to share God’s grace with those in need, and we offer compassionate care to each of our clients, regardless of their decisions.
Volunteering at Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center is an experience I will take with me for the rest of my life. At first I never considered babies and motherhood to be my forte, but the more I hung out with the kids, heard some of the moms’ testimonies and saw deep needs being met, I have a new appreciation for life and children. HTPRC is a wonderful place where wonderful people come together to help others. God’s work is truly being done here.
It is bittersweet to say a temporary goodbye to HTPRC!! God led Anah and I here in early February 2015, as we were on a two-month exploring visit to Austin. I wanted us to serve while “exploring” as I intend to move (snowbird) here in the very near future. Through For the City Network, my eyes and heart directed me to Chicon, and the very first day we showed up to serve, the overwhelming light and love of Christ flowed through each woman that works/serves here. What a blessing to Austin is HTPRC, not only for the tender loving care they give each and every woman that passes through their doors, but that they exude the hands and feet and heart of Jesus. Many lives are changed for the good and they definitely changed my life, too! I have a heart for service, a heart for women, and a love of Jesus, so it has been so rewarding to help in such a small way, for such a big cause. Thank you, Jesus, for all you do for me and for allowing us to serve with such amazing women of God. May God continue to bless and lift up all who work and serve here.
|The past couple of months I have been training to become a volunteer client care advocate at the Heart of Texas Pregnancy Resource Center. My current season of life is busy and chaotic... I have 3 kids 3 and under, a traveling husband, we're renovating a house (and selling another) and I don't get much alone time but God placed a deep desire in me to fight for LIFE.... the lives of the unborn, the lives of their brave and scared and amazing mamas, the lives of the husbands and partners and support systems. I now get to meet with women one on one for peer counseling, prayer, administer pregnancy tests, teaching baby care and parenting classes, provide materials and supplies for their children, and share the gospel. My work may only play a small part in the world but this is what being the hands and feet of Jesus looks like. "For You formed my inward parts, You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body, all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be." -Psalm 139:13-16
